James Murray appears on the memorial in Lenzie Old Parish Church as follows: Sapper James Murray, RE, died Lenzie 14 April 1918.

I cannot locate him on CWGC records. His death certificate states he was a railway clerk and Sapper, Royal Engineers and confirms date of death as 14 April 1918. Cause Phthisis Pulmonalis one year. Age: 26. Home address: Station House, Lenzie. Parents: James Murray (Station Master) and Maggie Euphemia Murray nee Simpson (deceased).

Silver War Badge card shows date of discharge as 8 March 1918, service number 209848. His full pension record survives on Ancestry and that stipulates TB commencing during service in 1917 and aggravated by service.

Forwarded to Terry Denham who says he can progress.

Fortunately someone on Facebook is doing a survey of the Old Aisle Cemetery in Kirkintilloch and have provided me with a photo of James Murray's grave. I can now go to East Dunbartonshire Council for Burial Record and Lair location.
