The other day I was browsing over the Galloway Forest Park South OS Map and I spotted a memorial marked on Darnaw above Clatteringshaws Loch. A quick Google identifies it as an air crash of a De Haviland Dragonfly on 2 Feb 1937. For more details see http://www.aircrashsites-scotland.co.uk/dh-dragonfly_darnaw.htm

I did a search of the War Memorials site and couldn't find anything so thought I'd post this.

Thanks Ken.

I expect the Irish person would but the Yorkshire person would undoubtedly suffer!

it's a fairly well known crash site but no military connection so it really doesn't come close to qualifying for this forum. I know of a couple of other such civilian crash sites in our area, one above Carsphairn also has a memorial plaque, but again, no military connection so not a war memorial no matter how generously we interpret that.

Paul,

I wouldn't have posted but for the following on the website I linked to ... "On board was a senior Express reporter, Major Harold C. Pemberton D.S.O., " I agree it's a tenuos military link but there is something.
