What a great job of photo-ing Morag and you've got one of my men on there!
He's named on the Urr Parish War Memorial in the village of Haugh of Urr in Kirkcudbrightshire as:
2nd LIEUT. J. A. MARTIN, H.L.I.
James Adam Martin – age 34 – Second Lieutenant: 6th Battalion, Highland Light Infantry.
A procurator, managing clerk and partner with the solicitors Motherwell, McMurdo and Mitchell of Airdrie, Lanarkshire, he began his legal career with Walker and Sharp of Maxwelltown, leaving behind the farm his family had occupied for several generations. He enlisted as Lance Corporal (3058) in the Glasgow Highlanders (9th HLI) in September 1914 and was commissioned as 2nd Lt. in 6th HLI in April 1915. He left Egypt for Gallipoli on 28 June 1915.
Born 1881 at Urr. Son of John and Elizabeth (Rogerson) Martin of The Fell, Crocketford, Urr Parish.
Missing in Action on 12 July 1915 and named on the Helles Memorial, Gallipoli, Turkey.
He is also named on the Airdrie War Memorial in North Lanarkshire. _________________ Ken |

Thanks gentlemen. Perhaps a little "return" for all the help you have given me over the years.
