The Courier & Advertiser for Wednesday August 21, 2013: has in its Cragiie section /page published this story :
MEMORIAL AT GREAT LOSS :
Wilson Walker emails "The current talk of commorationgof the First world war brought to mind the ROLL OF HONOUR in the ALBERT ART GALLERY , ALBERT INSTITUE , DUNDEE .
"I am sure many older readers will remember being impressed by it . As a Laddie , I used to go and see it fairly regularly.
"A few years ago I asked where it was and I was shocked to discover it had been BROKEN UP.
"The person in charge , a Mr DAVID STOCKDALE , told me he had been authorised by the then LABOUR COUNCIL CONVENOR to destroy it as "IT TOOK UP TOO MUCH SPACE ." I am sure many will regret that tit is not available at this time.
"The Picture on the left shows what the memorial , on an oak stand looked like . It was taken from the 1926 programme produced for the opening of the Law Monument ."

I read that today too, what a shame.
Dundee really does have an awful record of demolishing stuff they really shouldn't have....
