Hello,
I have been a member for nearly a year now and still not posted a message!
I have always been interested in memorials and I have been involved for a few years in helping an aunt to visit as many memorials as possible. She is well into her 80's, but is determined that nothing will stop her. She published a collection of Highland memorials as 'Lest we forget' about a year ago, and then announced that it was her intention to continue eastwards into Moray and beyond. We have now visited most of Moray and Banffshire and are well into Aberdeenshire. I have in the process found a few memorials not on this site, but will amend that soon.
I would also like to say that if anyone wants to give me orders to improve or collect photos or information then I am very happy to try and do so.
With best wishes,
Tomas Christie. |

Welcome Tomas. Looking forward to seeing what new memorials you can find. We're also happy to see additional photos of memorials which are already here. |

Welcome Tomas, I hope you share my pleasure in finding the 'difficult' memorials in churches, schools, village halls and sports clubs etc

Welcome Tomas,
Looking forward to seeing your posts, particularly the "hidden" ones.
If your Auntie runs out of memorials to find just send her down to Glasgow!

Thank you all for your kind welcomes. There are memorial tablets in the RC church at Tombae, I have photographs. There is also a Lorimer memorial to Captain Mark Tennant also named on Urquhart and a couple of Aberdeenshire memorials. I also have photos of a Kellas school memorial similar to one that was in the school at Cranloch, but present whereabouts unknown.
I understand that there is a rich archive of designs for memorials in the care of the RCHAM and National Archives.
These photos I have I will post up as soon as I can. |
