OS Ref: NT 259 738

A very impressive memorial but in a very difficult position to get a good photo. There are bound to be more photos of this memorial out there which can be posted.

The memorial was unveiled on 4 Oct 1906 by Lt Gen Sir E P Leach. The sculptor was Mr William Bernie Rhind. There is currently a duplicate entry for this on UKNIWM under ref 53597 but I have mailed them today to ask them to remove this duplicate.
Difficult to get the inscription in a single photo so here it is transcribed.
IN MEMORY OF OFFICERS NON COMMISSIONED OFFICERS AND MEN WHO WHILST SERVING WITH THE KINGS OWN SCOTTISH BORDERERS (THE EDINBURGH REGIMENT) GAVE THEIR LIVES FOR THEIR COUNTRY DURING THE FOLLOWING CAMPAIGNS AFGHANISTAN 1878-1880, EGYPT 1888-1889, CHIN LUSHAI 1889-1890, CHITRAL 1895, TIRAH 1897-1898, SOUTH AFRICA 1900-1902
I rather like the following photo, as much for the background as the memorial itself.
