Ardclach and Ferness - Nairn District
UKNIWM Ref no. 5898 & 8700

The Ardclach & Ferness war memorial is a grey granite celtic cross with wheel-head and a shallow tapering shaft set on a tapering pedestal which in turn rests on a rustic base and freestone plinth. There is a celtic knotwork pattern carved in shallow relief on the face of the shaft and cross head. The commemoration is also carved in shallow relief on the lower face of the shaft, and the names of the dead are listed in black lead letters on the face of the pedestal. The names of the WWII dead are listed in black lead lettering on one side of the pedestal.
The monument stands in a small enclosure by forestry on the east side of the A939 on a bend about a mile north of Ferness and Ardclach.
I don't know why there are two UKNIWM numbers for this memorial unless I missed another memorial in the vicinity?
