UKNIWM 56996
Location on the outside wall of the ruined Kirkconnel Church on the Springkell Estate near Eaglesfield at OS Map Ref NY 251 753
Note that this is not connected (or near) the current parish of Kirkconnel.
The plaque is on the right hand side of the church (from the first photo), it is made of granite and is heavily covered in algae but otherwise in good condition.
UKNIWM records that the lettering is painted every decade and the next will be due in 2012. It also records that permission is needed to access the site, this is no longer true as there is now a signposted path to the church along the riverbank and an allocated parking space (wear wellies if wet) - about a ten minute walk.
