I've transcribed the casualties on the Polton memorial.
I thought there would be a good chance of identifying them all, I was mistaken....
So if anyone can help with identifying the following on CWGC or SNWM I'd be delighted.
WW1
Alexander MacDonald, L.B.H. (Lothian & Border Horse)
J.H. Plowman, R.E. does not qualify for CWGC
George Renwick, A.O.C. (Army Ordinance Corps)
John Thomson, 7th G.H. (found)
WW2
G. Michael, M.F.A. (Maritime Fleet Auxilliary) does not qualify for CWGC
Regarding Plowman, I thought he'd be easy to find with such an uncommon name, but the closet I can see is a B.H. Plowman of the R.E. with no descenable link to the area.
Cheers,
Derek.

Derek
A John Hamilton Plowman 25 died Lasswade in 1922. This might be him but it may well be that none of them qualify for CWGC.
I suspect this is the case for G Michael from WW2. There was a famous G Michael, detailed below, but it is not your man.
Name: MICHAEL, GLYNDWR
Initials: G
Nationality: United Kingdom
Rank: Civilian
Regiment/Service: Civilian
Age: 34
Date of Death: 24/01/1943
Additional information: Mr Michael posthumously served his country during the Second World War under the assumed rank and name of Major William Martin, Royal Marines, date of death given as 24th April 1943. These details are recorded on the original ledger which marks the grave. History knows him as "THE MAN WHO NEVER WAS". .
Casualty Type: Commonwealth War Dead
Cemetery: HUELVA ROMAN CATHOLIC CEMETERY _________________ Jim
