His service record survives (as a pension record) on Ancestry. He was discharged on 7/7/1916 (myasthenia gravis - or muscular dystrophy).
"not result of, but greatly aggravated by conditions of active service"
Presumably this was his cause of death? But I have no idea whether this would qualify him for CWGC listing.
I have his record of service, send me PM if you would like a copy.

Mark
I also found the file earlier and was checking to see if he was in the system. He is not.
He should qualify if the cause of discharge and death were the same. The problem might be proving they were one, and the same, man. English DC's have no NOK but may have his service number. Let me know if you obtain the DC.
Post discharge are not so easy to prove. _________________ Jim

Paul/Jim,
Thanks for that. I don't know why but the Ancestry record slipped by me. That is why I like posting to get 'fresh eyes' on it. His record makes sad reading. Hopefully he will qualify and place of burial can be found.

This escaped my attention. In the process of obtaining his Death Certificate which, hopefully, will progress him for CWGC status. |
