|
|
The Scotsman reported on the 13th November 1922 that:
"A War Memorial in the form of a drinking fountain erected at Woodilee Mental Hospital, Lenzie, was formally opened by Mrs Carre, wife of the medical superintendent on Saturday, when an address was given by Lt-Col. Armstrong, RAMC. The fountain commemorates 20 members of the staff"
Woodilee Hospital closed in 2001 and as can be seen on the photo at the link, there isn't much left.
Unless the drinking fountain was removed prior to or just after closing, it may be that it's been lost.
I'm unsure who to contact in order to try and track it down.

Thanks to "tobymac" on the Great War Forum, I can confirm that this memorial is currently located in Waterloo Close, Kirkintilloch.
It will be moved back to Woodilee at some point.
Here's a shot from Google Street View.
