Houndwood Parish Church can trace its history to a small 'chapel-of-ease' opened in nearby Renton in 1794. This was replaced by a pleasant church in Houndwood in 1836 with surrounding churchyard which opened in 1901, and it was erected as a "quoad sacra" parish - apportioned from Coldingham - on 9th July 1851.
In the mid-1970s the church in the adjacent village of Grantshouse closed and the parishioners joined in Houndwood. However this proved mistaken as the population is in Grantshouse.
In the middle of last decade services moved to Grantshouse Village Hall.
At this time the roll was removed to Reston Church.
(Other site used by Grantshouse & Houndwood & Reston congregation).
Casualties aren't denoted on the roll.
It's a common type locally, by George Waterstones & Sons of Edinburgh.
Houndwood Parish Church is now a crematorium.
