A now deceased neighbour friend David West here in Angus told me of a WW2 Mine Explosion where a school pal of his age was killed at Ferryden near Montrose . I think the casualty was Daniel West aged 16 years death took place on 9 Feb 1941 . Death took place at his parent's home address in Ferryden near Montrose .
I know of some burials at Sleepyhillock Cemetery that were casualties of 16 August 1941
Burials Sleepyhillock Montrose :
Old Section of the cemetery:
Arbuthnot , Jean Hosie grave E 69 a
Arbuthnot, Susan grave E 69a
Arbuthnot, Susan Mitchell grave E 69 b
Beatrice Finney also an air raid casualty
There were other WW2 casualties from other air raids on Montrose too (but I come from Arbroath so dont know much detail on Montrose gableendies history !
