Parton Village is on the A713 about 8 miles north of Castle Douglas.
OS ref NX695705
(edit by spoons) WMR 71822

The village hall (the red-roofed building) contains a Roll of Honour listing the names of 76 men from Parton who served in the First World War.

The photos are from Eddie Yates, Chairman of Parton Community Council.

That will be the village hall where 2 long term residents of the village separately assured me had no memorial!

Perhaps the only sure way is to get inside and check for ourselves?

Then again, what about the rolls of honour I once found underneath a pew?

Do you have a photo with readable inscriptions or should I keep this on my to-do list? I pass the hall a couple of times a week and know someone who lives in the village so should be able to arrange access with my 'big' camera.

There seems to be an unusually high number of bravery awards listed on this roll.
