Hi all
I’m trying to find information concerning a seaforth highlander that served in India with the 2nd battalion and was awarded the igsm 1930-31 medal
Details as follows
Pte 2816399 william mclay
Attested 6th sept 1926 discharged July 1938
Not 100% about these dates.
Also he may have been a coal miner in Linlithgow before he joined up.
Any help would be much appreciated as I’m finding very little.
Thanks _________________ George macdonald |

HI George and welcome
Getting access to records for servicemen in the post WW1 period is quite difficult.
See here for details https://www.gov.uk/get-copy-military-service-records
Records from the 1920's onward are not in the public domain.
Since your man did not die (I assume) while serving during WW2 the only military info available is as above. _________________ Ken |
