St.George's UF - now known as Hawick Teviot Parish Church

UKNIWM Ref: 44249

Unveiled on the 10th July, 1921

"A memorial to thosed of the congregation who fell in the war was unveiled and dedicated in St.George's U.F Church, Hawick, yesterday afternoon by Colonel Sir Richard J.Waldie Griffith, Bart. of Hendersyde Park.
The memorial, which is placed at the western end of the south aisle of the church, is designed in the manner of an Italian lecter, in alabaster, set in a cippolino step. Bearing a Crusader's sword and the dates 1914-1919 carved in relief, it is surmounted with a moulding forming the ends of the sloping slabs, whcih takes the form of scrolls with the names of those who made the supreme sacrifice". - "Scotsman" 11th July 1921

According to UKNIWM this memorial lists 26 names and that:
"ALTHOUGH THE TABLETS ARE IN GOOD CONDITION, ACCORDING TO FW REPORT THEY APPARENTLY ONCE FORMED PART OF A LARGER MEMORIAL (UNIDENTIFIED) WHICH HAD TO BE REMOVED AS IT WAS FALLING THROUGH THE FLOOR."

From the look of it, the 2 marbles were part of a larger memorial.
There are only 25 names listed.
The names are listed in date of death order, the earliest dates being listed on the right hand panel.
