I was deeply saddened and not a little angered to find that the Cenotaph in George Square isn't accessible to the public just one day after Armistice Day in order to allow workies to tart up the Square in preparation for Christmas (or whatever we're expected to call it nowadays).
Whoever authorised this should be subject to an interview without coffee. |

that's a phrase I remember from a previous life
It would be nice if free access to memorials was always guaranteed, as a second best - anyone wishing to limit access to a memorial for essential work could post a notice on this forum

Slightly at a tangent here (sorry) but anyone who has had a look at the Riddrie Park Cemetery Thread on the War Graves Forum, will have noticed that within that cemetery, there's an area which is cordoned off (has been for years) and NO access is allowed.
See: http://scottishwargraves.phpbbweb.com/viewtopic.php?t=140&mforum=scottishwargraves
There are at least 17 CWGC graves there which remain unaccessible and who knows how many family stones.
I've managed to photograph one or two stones by hanging over the fence and using maximum zoom but the remainder - well, I don't know what their fate is going to be.
