I think the names have become weather-worn and unreadable.
A new panel with names will have been affixed.
Another example of this is at Aberuthven, Perthshire.

Robert Yule was one of 6 members of Perthshire County Constabulary who fell in the Great War. Memorial Plaque, after much searching, to be posted soon.

There are no David McLauchlan's of the Black Watch on CWGC or SNWM, Likely the McLachlan who is also on the memorial at Bonhill.

(Glasgow Herald 24th March 1915)
"Mr George McLachlan, Dalvait Road, Balloch, has received word that his brother, Private David McLachlan, of the 2nd Black Watch, was killed at Neuve Chapelle on March 11. He was buried in a cemetery near the spot where the fight took place. He was 24 years of age and a native of Gartmore."

(Glasgow Herald 25th March 1915)
"Mrs Whitelaw, Main Street, Gartmore, has received a letter from Private John Dymock, 2nd Black Watch, informing that her brother. Private David McLaughlan, of the same company, had been killed in the fighting at Neuve Chapelle. Private McLaughlan was struck on the head by a piece of shell and instantaneously killed. He was 24 years of age, and had been about 5 years in the regulars. He was a native of Gartmore."
