I'm hoping that someone is familiar with this War Memorial.

I've heard that it is inside a church in Neilston, Renfrewshire. As far as I'm aware, there are two churches in Neilston, one Catholic and one Protestant. I'm aware there is a Memorial Window in the Parish Church, although I've not seen it ( http://www.neilstonparishchurch.org.uk/ind...les/Page314.htm ) but the soldier I'm hoping to find was Catholic, so I'm not sure if he would be listed as he would not have been a member of that congregation. I suspect the memorial I'm looking for may be inside St Thomas's RC Church.

The soldier I'm hoping to find is listed at both the CWGC & SNWM sites, but is not listed on the War Memorial in the nearby town of Barrhead.

Whist searching I also came across mention of a South African War Memorial in Neilston Parish Churchyard from 1905:
http://www.neilston.org.uk/history/history_churches.htm
"Apart from the First World War Memorial Window at the back of the Church above this vault, there is a South African War Memorial Stone in the shape of a Cross opposite the entrance gate. There are two Memorial Windows, one at each side of the organ. "

Thanks for the note of the Boer War memorial in Neilston. There are a few people on the forum who will be interested in it if it can be tracked down.

Can you give us details of the soldier you are looking for?

Regards

Adam

Hi Adam
Thanks for your quick reply.
The soldier I'm hoping to find mention of is Harry McAuley, date of death: 23/04/1917; 10/11th Bn. The Highland Light Infantry & also The Royal Scots Fusiliers, commemorated on bay 8, Arras Memorial, France.
