Although this memorial is in a church it is actually a regimental memorial so I’ve moved it to the Regiment and Unit section. If there are other Argyll memorials like this in the Church of the Holy Rood please put them in the Regiments and Unit section rather than church section which is for memorials to church congregations. Memorials to one person have their own section as well – Individuals.

The reason for this is that if we put all memorials in Churches in the Churches section it would also sometimes contain what we have classed as civic, individual and unit memorials. It’s a bit confusing but it does mean that all memorials of the same type are in the same section.

I’ve also amended the title to include the regiment. Up until the 1930s they also still liked to be known as the 93rd Highlanders, their pre 1881 title. I’m surprised that it wasn’t mentioned on the plaque.

There are no officers listed. Is there an officer’s memorial do you know or did none die?

Sorry and sorry Adam - for putting both the A. & S. H.'s in the wrong places!

There are various memorials all over this church, all of which are really hard to photograph. I'm planning a return visit to see if I can do any better with a tripod.

I don't think there is a memorial specifically to Officers but I might be wrong. As the two A. & S, H.'s plaques were together with a lot of spare wall space, I would have thought that would have been an obvious spot.
