UKNIWM Ref: 8577

Address
A92
ELLON
GRAMPIAN
SCOTLAND

Type: SERVICEMAN/WOMAN
Location Details: TOWN SQUARE

OS Map Ref: NJ 960 305

Many of the War Memorials in the area are of Aberdeen granite in the form of Celtic crosses or a highland infantryman in mourning pose.

This one at Ellon shows the well known fighting spirit of the famed 51st Highland Division. It is of a Gordon Highlander with his sleeves rolled up and rifle levelled.

You can nearly hear him say " Cam awa noo Fritz, lets be haeing ye !"

Hello,

Any chance somebody might have a transcript of the names on the Ellon War Memorial, or photos of the name plates?

Many thanks,

Pat

Ellon is covered by Google's new Street View camera and you can see where Ellon's memorial sits within the town here
