The Kilfinan war memorial is located in the village opposite Kilfinan Parish Church set back about ten feet from the road through the village. It is rather weathered unfortunately.
The inscription on the memorial reads:
TO THE MEMORY OF OUR GALLANT DEAD
MAJOR WILFRED EDWARD NICOL DSO GRENADIER GUARDS
LIEUT DONALD NINIAN NICOL SCOTS GUARDS
PRIVATE JOHN FERGUSON 8th A&S HIGHLANDERS
PRIVATE DUNCAN MCINTYRE 8th A&S HIGHLANDERS
PRIVATE ALEXANDER MACMILLAN 8th A&S HIGHLANDERS
PRIVATE PETER KENT R.A.M.C
GUNNER MALCOLM STEWART R.F.A
1914-1918
The thread already assigned to Kilfinan is in fact located in Kames and I rather think this is the Kilfinan memorial although the one located in Kames covers the Kilfinan district.
I have photographs of the memorial but have not successfully mastered how to upload them, despite helpful assistance on general threads, if anyone can assist I am happy to email them. |
