UKNIWM 44424

OS Map Ref: NX 100 603

The memorial takes the form of a bronze plaque in the recess formed by a bricked up doorway on the exterior of Inch Parish Church.
Note that there are no WW2 names and there is no memorial inside the church. I have yet to confirm if/where there may be a WW2 memorial for the parish.

Not sure if further research has been carried out but I get the feeling this may not have been the original location of this memorial.

Nope, it's always been there. From 'The Faithful, the Fallen and the Forgotten' by Julia C MacDonald (2011)

"On Sunday 11th April 1920, after a very well attended service in Inch, led by Rev Gilfillan and Rev Hair, the congregation made their way out of the church and round to the old doorway that faced the gate to the main road towards Glenluce.

In the presence of the Earl and Countess of Stair etc etc"

I agree it does look a little odd however, I have seen other plaques on the outside of parish churches but they are in stone, not bronze like this one.
