Giffordtown - Fife
UKNIWM Ref No. 44150
The Giffordtown memorial is a freestone obelisk set on square pedestal. The commemorations and names of the dead are listed on granit tablets set into the faces of the pedestal.
The monument stands at the crossroads near the hamlet in front of the kirk.

Although listed as GIFFORDTOWN WW1 AND WW2 UKNIWM Ref: 44150
It appears to be the Collesie Parish Memorial

I hope you are not expecting me to give you answer!!
This is not the first Fife memorial to get me confused - erect it in place X and we will call it after place Y.
I have only been in Fife 30 years so have another 100 to do before I am "nearly a local".
Will try to look at old newspapers to see if they can shed any light on it. |

Not llocal to Fife myself but my grandfather was born near Kelty so I am taking responsibility for this area!
Fife definately has been problematic. I don't know if I've seen so many memorials in unexpected places or called different things. I think the make up of the area due to the mining industry has played a big part. |
