UKNIWM Ref: 44229

OS Map Ref: NX 965 765

The UKNIWM description is:

BOOK OF REMEMBRANCE PLACED WITHIN A WOODN DISPLAY CASE AND TWO VASES PLACED UPON THE ALTAR

The vases are no longer on the altar and have not been there for some time, furthermore - the person I spoke to had no knowledge of them so it must be considered doubtful if they still exist (although my enquiries could not be called extensive).

I found this article online recently. I assume this might be the memorial in St John's Church which is mentioned.

The civic war memorial for Dumfries is in front of St John's Church and Pipe-Major Mackie is listed on it. That may be the memorial mentioned in the article rather than this one inside the church.
