Hi
I wonder if anyone can point me in the right direction -
I currently have the 2 WW1 Medals and DCM Medal + Citation from 1917 for John Douglas
Rank: CSM ( Sgt when won DCM )
Service No.:45007
Date of Death: 6/12/1918
Age:23
Regiment: KOSB - Company Serjeant Major
06 December 1918
2nd Bn. King's Own Scottish Borderers
Distinguished Conduct Medal
Greenlaw Parish Churchyard
He came from Southdean, Roxburghshire
( Little Hamlet that is South east of hawick )
Born 1895 and lived at Greenlaw
Basically I need to try to find a newspaper photo of him - perhaps in the Border Telegraph or Hawick Advertiser - or the post-Great War ? book
Borders Heroes of the Great War
I tried for 5 hours using the Microfiche reader at Hawick Heritage Hub to no avail on the ' Hawick News ' and ' Berwickshire Advertiser '
if you can help me - only to happy to post a photo of the gravestone ( visited last week ) and online here - a photo of his 3 WW1 Medal ( incl Distinguished Conduct Medal )
any help would be very gratefully acknowledges and appreciated
( working full-time in NHS in the Edinburgh Operating Theatre at Royal Infirmary ) so research time is very scarce at the moment
kind regards
