INVERNESS WAR MEMORIAL.
TABLET ERECTED IN CENTRAL SCHOOL.
A memorial tablet has been set up in the Central School, Inverness, memory of the late Mr Andrew M. Bruce, M.A., second master; Mr George A. Cameron, M.A.; and other pupils of the school who fell in the war
The late Mr Bruce, who was a son of Mr Alexander Bruce, Mill of Allathan, New Deer, was second master at the Central School for 4 years and fell in action on the 25th April, 1917, while serving with the 6th Gordons. Mr Cameron, who was a son of Mr G. A. Cameron, the headmaster, was both a pupil and teacher in the school, and fell on the 16th March, 1917, being in the 1st Camerons.
The tablet was unveiled by A. W. Bruce, Banker, Alford, a brother of the late Mr Bruce. Handsomely made of brass, it is of chaste design, with the regimental crests of the Gordons and Camerons engraved in the upper corners and suitably inscribed. It was designed by Mr Kennedy, art master
Mr Bruce said he felt it a great honour to be associated with them in the gallant dead. His brother had a great love for Inverness, and his heart was bound up with his work in the Central School. On behalf of his father and mother, expressed grateful thanks of the family for the honour done to his late brother.
