St Ninian’s North United Free Church became St George’s Church of Scotland in 1929. It was situated on the corner of Kirk Wynd and Main Street, St Ninian's and was closed in the 1960s. (For those familiar with the area, the site is opposite Lidl and has housing on it now.)
The Kirk Session and Deacons Court appointed a committee to enquire into the cost of a brass or stone table to be put in the church in memory of members fallen in the war. They opted for a brass tablet which was to be fixed in front of railings round the platform. A frame was later put round it. A collection was made to pay for the memorial. It was erected in 1920.
When the church closed the memorials were moved to the rear vestibule of St Ninian's Old Parish Church which is further up Kirk Wynd.
