I came across the following report in the 8/1/1942 edition of the Wigtownshire Free Press. I've posted on here in case anyone is in the Newburgh area and wants to investigate and start a thread in the appropriate place.

"A bronze mural tablet in memory of the Rev Arthur Currie Gordon has been unveiled in Foveran Church, Newburgh, Aberdeenshire. Mr Gordon was a son of the Rev William Gordon, late of Arnsheen, Barrhill. He was inducted into Foveran in April 1932, after a four years' ministry at Kells and an assistantship in St Bernard's, Edinburgh. On the outbreal of war in September 1939 he was called to duty as a Chaplain to the Forces, and was killed in France on 8th June, 1940, while ministering to a dying comrade.

The tablet was unveiled by Mrs Gordon, who, along with their two children, presented to the congregation two brass vases in memory of her husband.

The Rev HDF Dunnett, St Mary's Ellon, preached and dedicated the tablet and vases, and the Rev JE Stewart, the minister of the church, conducted the service."
