This memorial was to the 15th HLI, the "Glasgow Tramways" battalion. It's rather fitting, therefore, that it is now situated in Glasgow Transport Museum.

It is however, somewhat "stuck at the back" on a wall, behind a tram. Hopefully when the museum moves to new premises in the next few years a more prominent location can be found for this plaque.

Went back last week and got some better pictures. And some closeups of the names. It's not in a great position for taking pictures, so apologies if any of these are unclear.

Quick update on this one. The Transport Museum will be moving to new premises in the next few years, and they've obviously started work on this. Some exhibits have been removed for various reasons connected with the move. The memorial is one of them, although a notice states it will be back on display by the 5th November (perhaps for a wreath laying on the 11th?)

The result of this is that it is currently sitting on its side in a "back room", as you can see here:

I'm afraid it's still in the back room but it's now upright and does not have a load of clutter in front of it.

I'll contact Glasgow Museums (they are part of the Sports and Culture Dept.) to see what the plans are for the memorial once the new Riverside Museum is open.

"RESPONSE OF GLASGOW TRAMWAY MEN TO THE COUNTRY'S "CALL TO ARMS"

My apologies if this appears elsewhere on the forum or should be on a different thread.
