I know this isn't about a Scottish soldier but I thought it might interest people anyway! I'll understand if it is removed.
I'm just back from holiday in the south of England; the focus was embroidered samplers but many were in museums where there were also WW1-related exhibitions!
In the city of Wells, I found a memorial stone to Harry Patch, the last fighting Tommy, who died in 2009 aged 111. I remember reading about him when he died and he has been mentioned in some TV programmes about the Great War.
A few days later we were in Rochester, Kent where, in one of the many second-hand book shops, I found a book written about him. Needless to say, I bought it (£4 for a hardback isn't bad although it added greatly to the weight of my suitcase!)

My WWI visits to France and Flanders I remember seeing him and meeting Arthur Halestrap on the ferry away back in 2004. Britain's Last Tommies is a book with info on Alfred Anderson Black Watch...
