Not many details about this one, other than it is the burial place of an Ann Barton, wife of a Lt-Col James Anderson.
Can anyone shed some light on this one?

The Glasgow Herald, Wednesday, April 14th., 1926. Death notice:-
"SUFFILL.- Suddenly, at Cherat, Carluke, on Tuesday, 13th inst., Thomas Chandler Suffill, in his 61st year, beloved husband of Annie Smythe.- Public funeral to-morrow (Thursday), at 3 p.m., to Wilton Cemetery; friends kindly accept this (only) intimation and invitation." _________________ Andrew. |

Thomas Chandler Suffill was a School Board Officer when he enlisted in the Territorial 8th HLI in Carluke in June 1909. He became the Regimental Quartermaster Sergeant of the 5th Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) until he was demobbed in 1919.
His son John Henry Victor Suffill, Military Medal – age 22 – Sergeant (11600) 2nd Battalion, Highland Light Infantry died in the VAD Hospital in Haddington, East Lothian on 14 February 1919 and he is named on the Haddington War Memorial, on the St Mary's Church memorial in Haddington, on the Biggar War Memorial, on the Biggar High School memorial.
He was the husband of Agnes Paterson Miller (Fairley) Suffill, of "Williamville," Sidegate, Haddington who he married in 1917 in Haddington. _________________ Ken |
