Private James Baird, No. 3450. 9th Battalion Highland Light Infantry, was discharged on 3rd October 1916 as medically unfit due to seborrheic dermatitis of the scalp. It was aggravated by, but not caused by, his war service.

He died on 15th October 1918 from Influenza. As the caue of death differs to his cause of discharge, he does not qualify for inclusion by the CWGC.

His death certificate lists his parents as Robert Baird and Agnes Hamilton Baird (nee Bannatyne) - not Mary Baird (nee Scott) as stated on the gravestone.
