I recently submitted a case to Terry Denham regarding John Angus, 2nd Officer, Mercantile Marines who went down with the "Meaford" on 27th March, 1918.

It was torpedoed by U53 which was captained by Hans Rose, one of the most successful and highly decorated German U-boat commanders during the Great War.

Evidence of the merchant crew aboard the vessel on that fateful day has been found and forwarded to Terry Denham. Although these cases are being submitted I understand it has previously proved difficult to get men commemorated by the relevant authorities.

The crew are;

Napoleon Bocante 29 Sailor Venezuela Sailor's Home, Cardiff
J. H. Campbell 45 A.B. Charlestown 10 West Church Street, Cardiff
E. Claxton 30 3rd Engineer Ely 1 Ocean View, Whitley Bay

John Angus and his crew mates were all added to the CWGC register today (27 April 2016)

Well done Mark.
Golly, you've been really successful with non-comms recently but now it's whole boat loads!

Ken,

Just seen that. Have to say I am delighted with this result - and a very quick turnaround on this case.

Cheers,

Mark

Great news Mark. I hope they'll be added to the Tower Hill memorial soon too.

Kind regards
