On Mid Atholl War Memorial, Perthshire is commemorated - Pte. Alex. Mackinnon, Black Watch, Tominald.

He is Alastair Mackinnon No. 4121, who died on 27th June, 1917 at East Haugh, Logierait, Perthshire from Tuberculosis Abdominal Pulmonary, having been discharged on 3rd April, 1917.

His Pension Record Survives on Ancestry but is contradictory.

His symptoms are classic T.B. but states in the medical notes - "negative to T.B.". The Medical Officer states causation is unknown and not caused by active service, climate, or ordinary military service.

However

8. Disability - Phthisis Pulmonalis

and Opinion of the Medical Board at 20 (a) and (b)

States it was as a result of active service from exposure on active service.

Details sent to Terry Denham for opinion.
