Matt

Is this the civic memorial?

In which case could James Haggarty be James Hegerty?

Hi Adam
Yes this is the civic memorial, I can't find these lads and A Nurse -MacFarlane Rebecca H ? 1918 census Barrhead Gowanhill Paisley rd Barrhead -Orderly - Killed on service . I worked with John Houston on the Neilston men project and carried the research on to include Barrhead and Nitshill. I have very many lads with tangible connections to Barrhead who are not on the Cowan Park memorial in Barrhead. I have uncovered lots of mistakes with the name spellings of the lads, such this one.

Cheers Matt

The Only thing I have found on HUGH CAMPBELL is-
Barrhead Aviator A prisoner intimation has been made from flying corps record office that Flight sergeant H Campbell of the Royal Flying Corps has not returned to his base and is presumed to be a prisoner. Sergeant Campbell is a son of Mr Neil Campbell Grocer formally of Barrhead but now in Australia. He was in the Army for some years prior to war and in 1914 was transferred to the Royal Flying Corps? The Scotsman 27th June 1916 gives Presumed POW light Serg H Campbell 495 Royal flying corps Barrhead. Also a different Hugh Campbell of the Gordon Highlanders Born Barrhead Renfrewshire 1890 listed at Goojerat Military Barracks station hospital circular rd Colchester age 21 in 1911 census .
