(From his Death Cert. he was aged 41 and died from Bullet Wound to Brain.
At the time he was Headmaster of Busby School and stayed in the Schoolhouse.
He was married to Jean Allan Houston. His father was John Hunter Paterson ex-Baillie of Ayr where I believe John was born c. 1880.
I believe he is a non - comm.
Unfortunately I do not have his Rank or Regiment in order to put his name forward.
So if anyone can shed some light on this man I would be exceedingly grateful)

Major James Mackinlay Black MC
Killoch Glen
Died June 1964 aged 69 years.

Temp Second Lieutenant, Highland Light Infantry at the time of his Military Cross award.

Citation:

"For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty. He maintained communication with the front line companies, which were almost isolated on the far side of a village full of enemy machine guns and snipers. He twice led parties through with rations, stores and stretcher-bearers, showing great determination and initiative"
