Whilst looking for someone else, I've just stumbled over this boy:
"Hawick News" of 1/11/18 states:
"Pte James Scott, who died at 19 Lothian Street (Hawick) on Monday, joined the KOSB in 1915, and saw service in Egypt and France. He was discharged from the army in February. He is the only son of Thomas Scott and was 24 years of age"
His death certificate states that he died at home on the 28th October 1918 of pneumonia and flu and that he was:
"An army pensioner, Private Labour Corps attached Royal Scots Fusiliers".
He is not commemorated by the CWGC.
I don't have an Ancestry subscription. Can someone with access please see if any pension or service records survive for him? I haven't been able to find a Medal Index Card for him but I'd suggest that he enlisted into the 1/4th Bn. KOSB before being transferred. _________________

Derek - I don't see any obvious candidate.
I suspect that there is not a "non-comm" case anyway.
I've no doubt that his disabilities didn't help, but since fit young men were dropping like flies due to the flu epidemic, his cause of death could not be directly connected to his military service. _________________ Ken |

It may not be possible to link his death to war service but if he was 24 - had already been moved to the Labour Corps and had been discharged in February 1918, he couldn't have been in the best of health anyway.
