I don't know if this chap is on the Larbert Memorial (thanks to Photobucket, I can't see the plaques!)

UPDATE
Thomas Inglis was Acting Company Sergeant Major (service number 7420) in the 11th Argylls when he died of wounds in September 1916. I can find no connection with the town of Stirling although he is on the civic memorial. I thought I'd found a birth for him in Stenhousemuir but I was way off target!

The Stirling roll of honour has: Inglis, Thomas, Col.-Sergt., A. & S. H.

According to SDGW he was resident in Chatham, Kent when he enlisted

CWGC
INGLIS, T

The Falkirk Herald of 23 September 1916 p.3 has:

STENHOUSEMIHR FAMILY'S MILITARY RECORD.
Sergt.-Major Thos. Inglis Killed In Action.
Mr Thomas Inglis, 7 St' Crispin Place, Stenhousemuir. has been notified by the War Office that his son, Sergeant-Major Thomas Inglis Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders, was killed in action September 1. In a charge on the enemy trenches he was caught -by machine gun fire, and killed instantaneously. He joined the Argyll and Sutherlands 1898, and served in the South African war, for which he received the Queen’s medal and four clasps. In military circles he was a prominent athlete and football player, winning the army championship for the long jump in 1910 in Aldershot. He is survived by a widow and four children, who reside at Buccleuch Place, Edinburgh. Sergeant-Major Inglis, who was himself 18 years in the army, comes of a family who have a long and honourable military service record. His uncle Lieutenant James Ingiis, recruiting officer, Hamilton, who died in December of last year, had seen 28 years’ service. Two uncles now serving can also lay claim to long periods— one of 20 years and the other of 17 vears. There is also a brother-in-law with 10 years service, and a nephew with four years. The total united service is 97 years.

Thank you for that Ken.
I now have some background info to help find him. It is interesting that he came from a military family. The wrong one I had earlier found was a son of John Inglis who also served in the South African wars; in 1901, his wife was described as "Reservist's wife" and a daughter born in 1900 had the middle name "Pretoria"!!

I have edited my earlier post to remove the false birth date in case it confused anyone (other than me!!)

Sandra - if it helps, the Falkirk Herald of 16/9/1916 also has his age as 37 and names his wife as Olive Sands.
He married Olive Elizabeth Sands in Dartford, Kent in the December Quarter of 1908.
There was a Thomas Inglis born in 1880 in Larbert and at Church Street in Lambert in 1880 were Thomas Inglis 25, Jane Inglis 25, and Thomas Inglis
12 Mo.
His service record as 7420 is available on Ancestry.
His first two children Susan (1909) and Thomas James (1911) were born in Malta, Olive Ethel was born in Stirling (1913) and David William (1915) in Woolwich. So it looks like he was at the Castle for a few years.

Cheers

Ken

Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I reckoned, as a regular in the Argylls he would have been stationed at Stirling Castle at some point but proving it could have been difficult. How obliging of him (and his wife) to have had a child born while they were in Stirling!
