Hi I ve got a bit stuck trying to find information on James Craig SH on the Vale of Leven War memorial ~ I am not even sure he is the James Craig I am looking for so anything at all would help to be able to rule him in or out of the family tree . I also have another solider names Alexander McDermid Craig but I believe he survived he was a sergent in the A&S Highlanders and was with the British Expeditory Force when he married in 1918 . Any light that you could help shine on these fellas would mean an awful lot .Thanks Anne

HI Anne - do I take it that you have a candidate for James Craig already?

There doesn't seem to be a match in the Scottish Horse and, if it's the Seaforth Highlanders, the only James I can see is:

CRAIG, J. (James on SNWM)
Rank:Private
Service No:S/24233
Date of Death:28/07/1918
Age:19
Regiment/Service:Seaforth Highlanders 1st/5th Bn.
Grave Reference:IV. E. 8.
Cemetery:MARFAUX BRITISH CEMETERY
Additional Information:Additional Information:Son of Alexander Craig, of 8, Campbell St., Johnstone, Renfrewshire.

However he was born in Johnstone and enlisted in Paisley so there's no obvious link.
