Extract from London Gazette (2/12/1918), DSO awards: Lt. (A./Lt.-Col.) George Bissett, M.C., 1stiBn., R. Sco. Fus. For conspicuous gallantry and able handling of his battalion during an advance. Under most difficult circumstances, and in thick mist, he personally ensured that the correct line of advance was maintained to the first objective. Under very heavy fire he captured all objectives and held them. It was largely due to his courage and fine leadership that the battalion completely fulfilled its mission.
