I am doing updating on all Gordon Highlanders who died in WWI. I am finding some memorials do not have regiments so it is hard for me to find them.
If you have info I would love to have the details of the war memorials they are mentioned on or if you have anything that I have not already put on this site. I have over 20,000 entries of mainly NE men and have made 17,000+ entries on this site so would like to do as much as I can so any help would be good.

also James Menzies... but there are two and I don't know which one's mine!

Sorry Anne,
my brain's on strike tonight! I've mixed up the men. I'm looking for a James Menzies but don't know what regiment.
But I've a James Hughes who was a Gordon and worked at Plean pit - see previous thread.
my apologies,
Tanya

Adam produced indexes of some regions of SWMP a few years ago and I transferred the Dumfries and Galloway list from HTML to xls. If I then apply a filter, I can get a list of all those from D&G civic memorials in the Gordons. Of course this doesn't help with those without a regiment on the memorial.

Do you have those indexes and have you used this filter technique?

Hi Anne,
The one on the Plean memorial is Private S/5205 born 2/2/1892 in Kirkland Road Dreghorn, son of Francis Hughes(miner) and Agnes Wilson. The family were living in Red Row Plean in 1911. His will names his sister, also of Plean.
Tanya
PS if you could tell me how to find that photo, I'd be much obliged.

Thanks for the info I have noticed that the newspaper was Evening Times 12-9-18 Page 3: Photo.
I managed a visit to the Mitchell Library, Glasgow and was given their site details. If you check it out you will find you can find out the details from there it seems to be a project. I managed to put in find Gordon Highlanders and came away it loads of info.
