New burial docs available on CWGC WW1 entries now, some teething problems but previously unavailable next of kin info may be gleaned.

Well I'm delighted with the new additions to the CWGC and have already learned more about some of my boys.
I've already learned a place of death previously unknown and confirmed a Loos casualty that the CWGC have the wrong date listed on his headstone. Their "new" documents - original to the placing of headstones confirms that the wrong date was put on his stone.
Well done CWGC, nice to see an update that actually works.
Hours of research now in front of me. _________________

This can't be unique. I wonder what else will come out of these documents?
I've only had a brief look but it's good to be able to compare the original registers too. Take this example here of Private Alexander Ross of the Scots Guards who died as a Prisoner-of-War in 1915:
http://www.cwgc.org/find-war-dead/casualty/331195/ROSS,%20ALEXANDER
His current CWGC entry, noting his commemoration on a special memorial, does not state where he was buried. It is noted on the register as the Schneideműhl P.O.W. Cemetery, Silesia. That town is now Piła in Poland.
I'll also echo Derek's "well done CWGC" comment.

The new documents are fascinating, but I have to be honest - I don't like the name search being one field. I preferred the Surname and Initials/First Name being separate.
A minor quibble though - great work by the CWGC. |

I agree. It took me some time to get Ross's entry URL for my last post because of that.
