I did my best to check that this was not already posted and could not find it. If it is already posted and I missed it, please let me know.

This is one of a number of Royal Scots memorials in St Giles Cathedral that are listed on UKNIWM. Unfortunately, most have only a reference number and no other information. Therefore it is not possible to tie any particular memorial to the UKNIWM reference number from the information currently available but it must be one of:
8797, 9798, 9799, 8800, 8801, 8802, 8803, 8804, 8805 or 8806.

OS Map Ref: NT 270 730

Spoons

Good photos of this memorial.

The series you list of UKNIWM entries for St Giles are a waste of space. They have probably been duplicated by later entries anyway. Some of the other St Giles ones on the database are confusing because the title is a regiment but the memorial is in fact to an individual officer.

There needs to be some work done by the UKNIWM team to tidy it up for St Giles.

Just doing some cross checking and I noticed that the following man isn't listed on this Memorial.

I would have thought as he came from the Gibson-Craigs of the Riccarton Estate, he'd have been listed?

ROBERT JAMES GIBSON-CRAIG, 2nd Lieutenant, Royal Scots
Born 5th June? 1882 died at Naauwpoori? South Africa, 23rd April 1900
Second and eldest surviving son of Sir James H. Gibson-Craig, 3rd Baronet
