Dalrymple - Kyle & Carrick District
The Dalrymple war memorial is a churchyard style cross carved in freestone and surrounded by a low octagonal, grille like railing. Churchyard crosses were traditionally erected to the south of all pre-reformation churches to denote consecrated ground and are especially found in the south west of England. The memorial stands at junction of Barbieston Road and Burnton Road opposite garage (KA6 6DZ).

I see there are four men listed as 12th Y.B. The 12th Bn Royal Scots Fusiliers was made up from 2 dismounted Yeomanry Regiments. I wonder if this stands for 12th Yeomanry Battalion?

I think I've identified one of the men without an initial. Lance Sergeant and Corporal must be pretty interchangeable as a rank and Hollybush is near Dalrymple and other men from Hollybush are listed on this memorial.

Hi, I am researching my family tree and came across the website, the John Logan on the memorial is my great uncle. His name is also on his parent's headstone in Dalrymple churchyard with the date of death and the reference to Le Grand Hazard.
As a boy, I was in the BB's and used to attend the Armistice Day parades at the memorial and my grandfather told me that it was his brother's name on the memorial.
the building behind the first photo is the White Horse pub, previously a private house owned by McGuigan family and earlier, the manse for the free kirk.
I am also trying to find his brothers, robert (b.1889) and andrew (b.1897).
can I ask where you found this information as it may help me in my research.

Thatnks for taking the time to post here. It's great to be able to confirm I've identified the correct John Logan.

I found the information on John on the Commonwealth War Graves Commission website.

I'm assuming his two brothers survived the war so there won't be the same information about them on that website.

It looks like you'll need the advice of a genealogist for more resarch leads so I'll have to leave that up to someone more knowledgeable.
