On 5th Feb I was privileged to attend a reception at Clarence House in London hosted by HRH Camilla Duchess of Rothesay for employees and Regional Volunteers of the War Memorials Trust and others involved with War Memorials. I have to admit that I was half expecting a few of the usual 'hangers-on' but if there were any there, I didn't meet them.
It was great to have around 90 people in one place who all shared an interest and concern in War Memorials but only a few of us from Scotland unfortunately. I spoke with a few people apart from HRH including a Lord, an MP and the head of English Heritage but also including office volunteers and a guy who just volunteered as a driver when needed to move abandoned memorials. I found all of them to be enthusiastic and knowledgeable on the subject.
The Duchess was particularly keen about education of children on the subject and I had the opportunity to chat briefly about Dalbeattie Primary School's project of research on the Dalbeattie memorial.

Name dropper! Looks like it was a useful event to attend. Were any of the other attendees from Scotland members here?

Not as far as I know. There were a couple that I didn't meet up with. I know they are aware of this project but haven't joined as far as I know.
