I have a newspaper reference to this man who died from diptheria at Bedford in January 1915.Son of Mr David Low,Walmar,Downfield,Dundee.
He is listed in the People`s Journal as living at 282 Strathmartine Road,Dundee and is listed in the Dundee ROH.
I cannot find him on CWGC-SNWM is down at present for me so cannot check there.
Can anyone find him?

He is not listed by CWGC, so might be a non comm.

There is an Alexander Low aged 18 died in the first quarter of 1915 at Bedford. You would need to purchase his death certificate to see what details it provides.
It might confirm he was a serving soldier, but might not confirm any connection to Dundee.
Let me know if you obtain the DC, I may be able to get some money for you if it turns out to be a valid non comm case.

Eight pages of Alex Low's service record exist on Ancestry (not too much detail). Listed as No. 810, Highland Arm Coly.

I can also tell you that he had a military funeral and is buried at Balgay Cemetery, Dundee.

Mark

I saw the file, but will still need the DC to confirm the death details. The image of the funeral is a great find.

Definately a non comm if it can be proved. Well done in finding him.

Gents,
Thanks very much for the info and delighted to see he might be commemorated.
He`s one of the missing Dundee High boys-of which more sleuthing will doubtless be required in the months ahead!
Mark-if you could send me the details of the funeral pic that would be very helpful.
