I'm grateful to the members of Hawick Baptist Church for passing on the following information.

The Hawick Baptist Church Roll of honour was damaged a few years ago. It contained 61 names, 11 of which were casualties. A partial list was recreated and listed below. However, I believe it contains one spelling error regarding the surname of one casualty [R Musgrove should read R Musgrave], one error regarding the first name [James Waldie should read Joseph Waldie] and one error with regards to a casualty highlighted in red [William Rae should be William Tait, the name below Rae]. This belief arises after reading a brief history of the Church produced in 1924 which lists the 11 names on the memorial.

I believe the casualties may be:

Amos, Hugh, Pte, 7433, 4th KOSB, 12/07/1915, Gallipoli
Morley, Stewart [Stuart], Pte, 7372, 4th KOSB, 12/07/1915, Gallipoli
Musgrave, Richard, Sgt, 446424, 7th CI, KIA 15/08/1917, F&F, MM
Myles, John, Pte, 633, 4th KOSB, KIA 12/07/1915, Gallipoli
Porter, John, Pte, 6216, 6th BW, Died 08/12/1916, F&F
**Rae, William, Pte, 7415, 4th KOSB, KIA 12/07/1915, Gallipoli [Not in Hawick history book]
Reid, Robert Mabin, Pte, 7429, 4th KOSB, 30/07/1915 Gallipoli
Scott, Robert, Spr, 3233, 2/1st L Fld Coy RE, KIA 12/07/1915, Gallipoli
Scott, William, Pte, 897, 4th KOSB, KIA 12/07/1915, Gallipoli
Tait, William Walker, Pte, S/11749, 5th QOCH, 25/09/1915, F&F [not red on Hawick ROH]
Waldie, Joseph [James], Pte, 557, 4th KOSB, 12/07/1915, Gallipoli
Wight, Thomas, Pte, 830, 4th KOSB, KIA 12/07/1915, Gallipoli

Regards
LIT

LIT,

Thanks for this.

I've no record of there ever being a Roll of Honour for Hawick Baptist Church so this is a very welcome addition.

There are 2 John Porter's recorded on the Hawick Rol of Honour and both were in the Black Watch so I'm unsure which is listed above.
