At the head of the path to Chirnside Parish Church - and not impossible to mistake for a gravestone, in passing - is this memorial to a local man who was killed in the Boer War.
30789 T Bradford is commemorated on the Scottish Horse memorial up in the Castle Esplanade, Edinburgh.
He was among 73 killed in the defeat of the Battle of Bakenlaagte:
