An update on this memorial - we contacted the current owners of Doulton, as well as the administrator who dealt with the sale of the assets at the time of liquidation of the old company. Neither have any knowledge of this memorial as it was not listed amongst the assets.

We have no knowledge of where the archival records are currently located, so for the moment it seems the owner of this memorial cannot be traced.

We have had some communication with some people local to the area and discussions are ongoing as to what can be done with this memorial.

"A.N. Other"

If you would like to send the photograph to one of our members we can scan it and send it back to you.

The memorial is dated 1914-1919 so perhaps the last man you can't find died in 1919?

Thanks

Adam

W Baxter I believe was discharged and died of causes unrelated to his war service. He therefore does not fit the criteria for inclusion by the CWGC.

Just out of curiosity, did anything happen with this memorial?

We had some contact with someone who was involved with Co-op Funerals in the area, but the contact died out after some inital positive messages.

Unfortunately other commitments have prevented us as a group being able to do anything further. I'm not aware of what the current condition of the memorial is.

Thanks, David. I'd just happened on this memorial and was just curious to know if anything had happened. Difficult when ownership cannot be established.

I note that WMT have received a condition report on this memorial. https://www.warmemorialsonline.org.uk/memorial/138069/
(check the condition and links tabs).
I see that WMT contacted Renfrewshire council on 10 Jul 2020 and I would expect to see any updates appear on the webpage.
